The Choral Arts Society Christmas
Down Under
An Aussie Christmas
The Choral Arts Society saluted Australia at its annual Christmas Concert
and Benefit in December. The concert featured famed tenor Carl Tanner as
a soloist.
Guests were treated to Aussie fare and traditional music from Down Under
at the dinner following the concert. Silent auction items included a trip
on the inaugural crossing of the Queen Mary II; an extra role on the final
season of NBC’s “Frasier”; luxury accommodations from Orient-Express
Hotels and a personal golf cart from Textron. The auction raised over $100,000
and the entire event netted $350,000. Proceeds support the Choral Art’s
Society’s artistic initiatives and community and education outreach
programs, such as the Annual Choral Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. and its pre-concert lecture series.
