Flashpoint Gala

Guests saw red on January 15 at The Red Circle Gala celebrating the opening of Flashpoint, Washington’s creative new downtown art venue. With its contemporary art gallery, theater lab and dance studio, the Cultural Development Corporation (CuDC)’s Flashpoint provides emerging performing arts organizations with performance and exhibit space. The gala raised $45,000. The red collection of auction items included fine red wine, dinner at Red Sage and a consultation with Studio Red Interior Design. The item that went for the highest bid was a weeklong ski vacation to Beaver Creek, which was purchased by Jonathan and Ann Binstock. Jonathan is a local curator of contemporary art.

The evening included a performance by the acclaimed Step Afrika!, a dance company dedicated to African-American fraternity/sorority stepping and a performance by the operatic group Washington Savoyards.
