Luncheon at the Embassy of Kuwait
Rima Al-Sabah, wife of Kuwaiti Ambassador Salem Abdullah Al-Sabah, hosted
a luncheon honoring Sheikha Feryal Al-Sabah, wife of Kuwaiti Minister for Foreign
Affairs Sheik Mohammed Sabah al-Salem Al-Sabah. The event celebrated friendship
between Kuwait and the United States. Guests dined on Middle Eastern delicacies
while the hostess read the chapter on “Friendship” from poet Khalil Gibran's “The
Prophet.”
“I can only hope to continue in her path and contribute to her legacy of showing
that spouses like us are actual partners in diplomacy, “ Rima Al-Sabah told
the crowd of 91 women, comprised mainly of the wives of ambassadors and wives
of high-ranking government officials. Always a gracious hostess, Rima Al-Sabah
placed chocolate tablets at each guest's seat, silk-screened with excerpts
from “The Prophet.”
