Larry King Cardiac Foundation Gala
Heart Pumping Good Time
Entertainer James Brown and funnyman Louie Anderson dazzled the crowd at “An
Evening with Larry King and Friends,” the annual fundraising gala of The Larry
King Cardiac Foundation (LKCF) on March 5 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Hosts
Larry and Shawn King honored three individuals for their dedication to saving
lives.
Chairman and President of FedEx Frederick W. Smith received “The Gerald S.
Snyder Heart Award,” presented by dinner chairman Dan Snyder (the award is
named for his late father.) Ramsey Foundation Director Norma C. Ramsey received “The
Spirit of Life Award” presented by Virginia Governor, Mark Warner. Dr. Richard
Katz of George Washington University Medical Center received the first “The
LKCF Physicians Laureate Award.” For over 15 years, the LKCF has been providing
life saving cardiac treatments for those whose insurance does not cover the
procedures or cannot afford treatment. To date, the LKCF has funded over 80
surgeries. This year's event grossed over $1.2 million.
