Nathans 35th Anniversary Party
Ben Bradlee, Bob Woodward and Birthday Cake

Over 200 guests packed the dining room and bar of Nathans in Georgetown to celebrate the restaurant's 35th anniversary.  Over a three-course dinner, Bob Woodward and Ben Bradlee answered questions in a “community lunch” style format.  Proprietor, Carol Joynt began these very popular “community lunches” in the fall of 2001 following the September 11 terrorist attacks.  The goal was for members of the community to get together, address their fears, and get questions and concerns answered.  Over the last two years, topics have branched out into many different areas and guests have included Tom Brokaw, Lloyd Grove, Dr. Tina Alster and Jack Valenti.  Paying tribute to its beginnings, Nathans served an Italian meal while guests enjoyed a performance by jazz/blues singer Judith Owen, accompanied on bass by her husband, comedian Harry Shearer, star of “The Simpsons” and the recent film, “A Mighty Wind.”  The evening ended with champagne, birthday cake, and no word yet of who “Deep Throat” is.
