Men and Women of Substance & Style Awards It is only fitting that the 3rd Annual Saks Fifth Avenue and Washington Life Magazine Men and Women of Substance and Style Awards benefit be as stylish as awardees Mary Ourisman, Jack Evans, Jim Kimsey, Amanda Taylor Marshall, Togo West, Debbie Dingell, Ernie Jarvis, Lisa Osborne Ross, Bob Nixon, Tatiana Gau, Robert Egger and Terri Freeman, who were honored on April 4 at Saks Fifth Avenue in Chevy Chase. Geisha models greeted guests as they sipped Ciroc Blossom Martinis, Lumina Wine and VOSS water. The Cherry Blossom-themed event included tastings from Palette, Galileo, Charlie Palmer Steak, Zola, Roof Terrace Restaurant & Bar, Taberna Del Alabardero, The Fairmont Washington, D.C., and Signatures. Chili Amar from Mix 107.3 introduced spectacular auction items such as a week at the fabulous Greenhouse Spa in Texas and the “Space Adventure” package, consisting of a flight in a Mig25 combat jet, the fastest combat aircraft that flies at the speed of sound. Following the auction, emcee Laura Evans (no relation to honoree Jack Evans, despite some accounts) introduced the 12 winners to the lively crowd of 500. $100,000 was raised for the nonprofit Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund. “It was a banner night for us and truly reinforced the incredible goodness and generosity of so many people in the D.C. metropolitan region and their willingness to really make
