A Roast and Toast for Bob Schieffer

Dan Rather, Sen. Joseph Biden, Jim Lehrer and David Greggory (who was filling in for Tom Brokaw and wowed guests with his remarkable imitation of him) paid tribute to Bob Schieffer on April 14. The host of CBS’s “Face the Nation” was toasted and roasted by colleagues and friends at the Mandarin Oriental hotel as he was presented the American News Women’s Club’s Helen Thomas Award for Excellence in Journalism or Outstanding Public Service. Other colleagues had their chance to roast Shieffer through videotaped tributes, including Sam Donaldson, Wolf Blitzer, Maria Shriver, Don Imus and Larry King.

Chaired by Washington Life’s own Donna Shor and Natasha Pintol, all proceeds from the evening benefited the American News Women’s Club’s scholarship program, which helps high school and college students study journalism at area colleges and universties.
