Washington D.C. Preview of Troy
Diplomacy and Popcorn
Washington Life magazine convinced Turkish Ambassador Faruk Logoglu and
Greek Cultural Counselor Zoe Kosmidou to put ancient differences aside
on May
11 to co-host and celebrate the D.C. preview of the new Warner Brothers’ movie,
“Troy.” It was apparently a well-anticipated event by both
Washingtonians and
New Yorkers alike, since one guests mentioned to WL that he had flown in
to
cover it for the New York Times because the city had no previews scheduled.
The most contested point of the evening, for female viewers, anyway, was
which
male actor was their favorite.
Following the film screening at the Georgetown Loews Cinema, guests nibbled
on Turkish and Greek delicacies and sushi at LeftBank. Owner Sahir Erozan
was
delighted to introduce his new restaurant, housed in the same Adams Morgan
location as the former Cities, to the diplomats and a group of visiting
Turkish
Parliamentarians.
