Diplomats and Military Commanders for Change The Kalorama home of Esther Coopersmith was chockablock with diplomats and other high-ranking government and military officials on June 15 for a fete celebrating the formation of a new non-partisan organization: Diplomats and Military Commanders for Change. The organization was formed by over two dozen former career diplomats and military leaders who were concerned about the deterioration and collapse of 50 years of alliances nurtured by every president since FDR. Notable members of the coalition include Avis Bohlen, former Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control; retired naval Admiral William J. Crowe; and J. Dan Phillips, former ambassador to Congo.
