Vital Voices Global Partnership The Vital Voices Global Partnership saluted seven women devoted to promoting progress and peace on May 18 at the Kennedy Center. Russia’s Marina Pisklakova-Parker, Venezuela’s Reyna McPeck, Yemen’s Amat al Aleem Ali Alsoswa, and Iraq’s Fatima Hassan Mohammed Al-Migdadi were honored along with Haiti’s Danielle Staint-Lot, Marie Lucie Bonhomme, and Marie Lourdes Elgirus. Notable women presenting the awards included Queen Noor of Jordan, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, actress Sally Field, and journalists Tina Brown, Gwen Ifill and Andrea Mitchell. Vital Voices works to build democracies in emerging countries by teaching women to expand their political and entrepreneurial roles and by fighting against the sexual trafficking of women. With the help of a Global Advisory Board, Vital Voices has designed individualized training programs to address the pressing issues facing each country.
