The 17th Annual William Shakespeare Award
One More for the Mantel
The Shakespeare Theatre’s annual “Will Award,” co-chaired by Sen. Ted
Stevens and Catherine Stevens and Rep. Roy Blunt and Abigail Blunt,
honored Dame Judi Dench for her long career in classical theater at the
Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The William Shakespeare Award for Classical
Theatre is an annual tribute to an individual who has made a significant
impact on American classical theater. Past recipients include Ralph
Fiennes, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Shakespeare Theatre Artistic Director
Michael Kahn. The event netted over $500,000 for the company’s annual
Shakespeare Theatre Free For All, a program that produces some of
Shakespeare’s finest plays free of charge each summer.
