The 17th Annual William Shakespeare Award The Shakespeare Theatre’s annual “Will Award,” co-chaired by Sen. Ted Stevens and Catherine Stevens and Rep. Roy Blunt and Abigail Blunt, honored Dame Judi Dench for her long career in classical theater at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre is an annual tribute to an individual who has made a significant impact on American classical theater. Past recipients include Ralph Fiennes, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Shakespeare Theatre Artistic Director Michael Kahn. The event netted over $500,000 for the company’s annual Shakespeare Theatre Free For All, a program that produces some of Shakespeare’s finest plays free of charge each summer.
