25th Anniversary Celebration of
The Diane Rehm Show Guests gathered at the magnificent Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium to pay tribute to Diane Rehm’s 25 years at WAMU …. and her 68th birthday. Emcee Roger Mudd lauded, Diane’s 1.5 million listeners. and paid tribute to a remarkable woman and to a radio program which has set the standard for open dialogue. Toasts and praise were delivered by The Right Reverend Jane Holmes Dixon, Dr. Benjamin Ladner, Mary Beth Busby and Jim Lehrer, who closed by reciting the lyrics from a song that says it best, “Nobody Does It Better.” Proceeds benefited The Diane Rehm Fund for Public Dialogue, which supports open and honest public dialogue on the most important issues of the day. Established in 1999, the Fund serves public radio listeners with programs that foster creative, constructive, and civil dialogue.
