The Foundation for the National Archives The Academy of Motion Picture Sciences and the Foundation for the National Archives hosted a George Stevens Centennial Tribute in late October at the recently opened William McGowan Theater at the National Archives. Guests and fans of the late award-winning director gathered for a reception in the Archive’s Rotunda prior to the screening of “The More the Merrier,” a celebrated film about the World War II housing crunch in D.C. The tribute was the first in a series resulting from a collaboration between the Academy, the Foundation for the National Archives and the Archives’ Charles Guggenheim Center for the Documentary Film, which plans to bring Academy-sponsored public programming to the McGowan Theater three times each year.
