Fight Night Thanks to live boxing matches, cigars and a room filled with sporting legends, business and political leaders, the 15th annual Fight Night was a big success again this year, grossing $2.2 million for Fight for Children on November 11 at the Hilton Washington & Towers. Guests included boxing legends Joe Frazier, Jake LaMotta, Carmen Basilio and Hector Camacho, as well as Washington Redskins Clinton Portis and LaVarr Arrington. Two limited edition Harley-Davidson motorcycles were auctioned for $80,000 apiece— one to Washington Redskins owners Dan Snyder and Dwight Shwar, the other to Washington Capitals owners Raul Fernandez and Rick Kay. Proceeds were distributed to local children’s charities, including
the Special
Needs Program at the Jewish Community Center, the Boys and Girls Club,
Best Friends Foundation, the Latin American Youth Center and the Children’s
National Medical Center.
