Kreeger Museum 10th Anniversary Gala
Celebrating Local Art
Local artist Jim Sanborn was honored with
the first Kreeger Museum Artist Award
at the Phillip Johnson-designed museum’s 10th anniversary gala on October
23. The award recognizes local artists in the D.C. area who consistently
demonstrate excellence and creativity, and who have made a significant
contribution to the artistic life of the city.
“While the materials that I use have changed dramatically over the past

years, the conceptual basis of my work has not,” Sanborn told the crowd
following the presentation of the $10,000 award. Sanborn’s art was on
exhibit throughout November at the museum on Foxhall Road. His work is
also in the collections of the Corcoran Gallery of Art, The National
