19th Annual Lombardi Gala This year’s Lombardi Gala treated 1,300 supporters to lively NASCAR races on large screens at The Washington Hilton and Towers on October 30. Honorees included NASCAR great and prostate cancer survivor Richard Petty, who was recognized with the Lombardi Symbol of Courage; former WUSA anchorwoman Andrea Roane was awarded the Lombardi Symbol of Caring for encouraging women to perform breast cancer exams through the Buddy Check 9 program, and local interior designer Sarah Boyer Jenkins received the Margaret L. Hodges Leadership Award for her time, energy and financial contributions to the Center. The gala grossed $1.3 million, thanks in part to generous bidding on more than 400 auction items and the help of former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating and his wife, Cathy, who chaired the gala. |
