Saks Fifth Avenue Hosts Fashion
Designer John Varvatos
Supporting the Community in Style
The Men’s Store at Saks Fifth Avenue in Chevy Chase
welcomed fashion
designer John Varvatos at a fashion show to benefit the Whitman-Walker
Clinic. Over 200 guests watched as stylish male models flown in from New
York strutted the runway wearing the latest fall fashions. This visit from
the
esteemed designer
marked the first time a major menswear designer made
an appearance at Saks in support of the community at large.
Varvatos said he was excited to be in Washington immediately after the
election (despite his disappointment with the outcome) and stressed that he
is a true fan of the Whitman-Walker Clinic. The event raised over $7,600
for the clinic, which provides medical care, HIV education programs,
counseling and legal services to D.C.’s gay, lesbian, bisexual and
transgender community and for people living with HIV/AIDS.
