The Washington Performing Arts Society Hosts
Wynton Marsalis TThe Washington Performing Arts Society (WPAS) presented the world premiere of “Suite for Human Nature,” featuring jazz phenomenon Wynton Marsalis, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and The Boys Choir of Harlem at the historic Lincoln Theatre on December 10. The stellar performance was followed by a VIP reception at the Thurgood Marshall Center, where elated guests had the chance to meet Marsalis, known by many as the “Ambassador of Jazz.” The event, chaired by Karen Hastie Williams and Daniel Korengold, honored WPAS President Emeritus Douglas H. Wheeler and the 40th Anniversary of the Black Student Fund, the beneficiary of the evening’s festivities. Performances were held in D.C. throughout the weekend before the production moved to New York’s Lincoln Center to kick off the “Jazz at Lincoln Center” series. |
