Diane von Furstenberg Lecture and Reception World renowned fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg gave a lively
lecture at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in cooperation with the Embassy
of Belgium on January 24. The Belgian-born designer revealed secrets
of her awe inspiring success, visually backed by a slide show of images
taken throughout her career. From her stories of working in a factory in
Italy, the birth of her signature wrap dress and her successful beauty line,
she became a role model for so many women in the fashion industry.
Following the lecture, Belgian Ambassador Franciskus van Daele and his
wife, Christiana hosted an intimate reception at their residence in von
Furtsenberg’s honor. Guests sipped Belgian beer and crème de cassiss
while posing for pictures and chatting with the guest of honor.
