American Heart Association’s Hearts in Bloom Galan The American Heart Association’s Seventh Annual Hearts in Bloom gala attracted over 500 guests to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Tysons Corner on April 8 for dinner and dancing to Escapade. The theme was “Paint the Town Red,” and guests were encouraged to wear that color to show their support for the cause. Bob Madigan, WTOP’S “Man about Town,” was the Master of Ceremonies. During the live auction, Kati Penney, mother of 2-year-old Katrina Mae of Bethesda, shared the moving story of her daughter’s heart transplant at two-months of age. Over $700,000 was raised to benefit heart and stroke research as well as community and professional education.
