White House Correspondents Dinner Guests at the White House Correspondents Association Dinner on April 30 were heard commenting that this year’s dinner was more boisterous than previous years. Maybe it was because First Lady Laura Bush revealed to the crowd that she too is a “desperate housewife,” or perhaps it was due to Cedric the Entertainer’s humorous comments about Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and President Bush. As usual, the media organizations did their best to produce big names from Hollywood to join their tables, including Goldie Hawn, Robert Duvall, Burt Reynolds, Jane Fonda, Randy Quaid, and Richard Gere. Even jilted American Idol contestants Nadia Turner and Constantine Maroulis made the trip. As always, revelers began the pre-partying at the various cocktail parties— two of the most popular and most crowded were Time magazine’s party and Atlantic Media’s bash, co-hosted with the Creative Coalition. Interesting note: All 2,600 meals were served in less than 15 minutes. Photos by Kyle Samperton |
