A LAVISH RECEPTION
Over 100 friends and donors
joined Lily Safra to celebrate
the opening of the Edmond
J. Safra Family Lodge at the
National Institutes of Health at
an extravagant reception at the
Library of Congress on May 26.

Vernon and Ann Jordan.
TOUCHING TRIBUTE
The
new addition, meant to be
a “home away from home,”
off ers a temporary residence
for families and loved ones of
patients who are receiving care
at the NIH Clinical Center. The
facility is named at er Safra’s
late husband, who suff ered from
Parkinson’s disease and died
in a fi re at his Monaco home
in 1999.
APPRECIATION
AND APPLAUSE
Guests rose
to their feet twice following
dinner to salute Mrs. Safra and
the Safra Foundation, which
donated over $5 million to
create the center.
