Selwa “Lucky” Roosevelt for
helping to donate part of a
record-se ing $775,000 to
support the State Departments’ Diplomatic Reception Rooms
in the past year.
RECENT ACQUISITIONS
The State
Department received many
exquisite pieces recently,
including an 18th-century New
York Chippendale chest and
silver once owned by President
James Monroe.
FURNITURE
LIBERTY AND PEACE
In a
moving speech, Rice spoke about
the signifi cance of the rooms,
while touching on the themes of
liberty, tyranny and slavery.
