THE EVENT: The Omni Shoreham Hotel gala
honored a golden era in Washington and the hotel's
75th anniversary. "Every person I know today, I met at
the Shoreham," said Mark Russell, who performed his
comedy and music routine followed by the legendary
Frankie Condon Orchestra (far more punctual than
Rudy Vallee, who opened the Shoreham in 1930
and didn't show until 4 a.m.).

Shoreham's memory lane with views of the many
events that took place there including a celebration
for Joe DiMaggio's 56-game winning streak, visits
from world leaders, King Saud's fl eet of 32 limousines
and the fi lming of The Pelican Brief.
THE GUESTS:Esther Coopersmith, Bill and Betsey Delphos,
Debbie Dingell, Knight Kiplinger, Ann Pacious, Lucky
Roosevelt and general manager Todd Scartozzi.
