In December, two of Bob Marley’s sons journeyed to the nation’s capital to host a dialogue about the status of Reggae and Hip Hop at National Geographic. They engaged the sold out crowd by discussing common elements that connect the global culture of music. They also touched upon what the future holds for Hip Hop’s cultural identity and were joined by an all-star group of musical leaders.

MTV host Sway Calloway moderated discussions with Damian and Stephen Marley, Nas, DJ Red Alert, DJ Kool Herc, Rakim, Daddy U-Roy, King Jammy, Jeff Chang, Pat McKay, and Waterflow. The symposium will be featured within a broader NatGeo documentary.

The fusion of genres, generations and agendas at the gathering exemplified the cultural cohesion and charged spirit that swept through Washington D.C. last year and continues to sweep through Hip Hop and Reggae today.
