In addition to being his longtime personal spokesperson, then appointed by him as General Manager, the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson personally appointed Bain to the Board of Directors of Sony/ATV Music, Trustee of MJ Publishing Trust, Music licensing agent for his MIJAC Music Publishing, through Warner Chappell Publishing, and President/COO of the Michael Jackson Company. Mr. Jackson stated publicly that he chose Bain as his General Manager because, as he stated publicly in an article, written by Teresa Wiltz, printed in the Washington Post on October 9, 2006, “I was impressed by her professionalism, her strategic thinking, and honesty. “ A major accomplishment from Bain’s tenure with Jackson, again quietly behind the scenes: she recruited, hired and supervised, on behalf of Mr. Jackson, the financial team, and group of attorneys, who refinanced Jackson’s $360 million Sony/ATV loan, which included his publishing catalogs, appraised at over a Billion dollars, including the famous Beatles Catalog. Under Bain’s watch, Jackson also purchased two other major catalogs, the Stoller & Leiber Catalog, which includes numerous Elvis Presley songs including, “Hound Dog,” and “Jail House Rock,” and the acquisition of Famous Music, which includes the classic and timeless hits, ”Moon River,” “Silver Bells,” “Alfie,” “Mona Lisa,” “Thanks for the Memories,” and “That’s Amore:” Broadway show hits of “A Chorus Line” and “The Producers;” Oscar winning Film Scores,“The Godfather,” “Forrest Gump,” and “Love Story;” the entire catalog of Duke Ellington; and, songs from today’s most popular contemporary artists including: Beyonce, Eminem, Akon and Shakira, among many others.
In the philanthropic community, Bain was one of the founding board members of the Boarder Baby Project; she worked tirelessly with the International Aids Trust Foundation, Co-Chaired by President Bill Clinton and one of her clients, 10-Time Grammy singer/songwriter/producer Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, and has privately orchestrated Client support for child immunization, world hunger, genocide, education, homelessness, and the plight of women and children in countries struck by crisis and violence. Bain is also a longtime Board Member of the Recreation Wish List Committee, founded by former DC First Lady, Cora Masters Barry.
