Designers bring out delicate draping and layers of ruffles to honor their ultimate inspiration- women.

At Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, the standout trend has been what I like to call “Fun, Flirty, and Girly.” Essentially, the clothing on the runway celebrates femininity. From cute frocks, to structured skirts, flowy blouses, draped dresses, frills, and ruffles- even the details of the seasonconjure images of soft femininity.
One thing designers have not skimped on in their collections is quality. Sumptuous fabric and delicate draping lend a luxe air to each garment.
One of my favorite spins on the trend came from designers Binetti and newcomer Yoanna Baraschi, who presented their collections off the runway in a more intimate presentation. I love presentations (although I must say the nudging and shoving for real estate is no fun) because they allow you a closer look at the clothes. Instead of strutting stoic and expressionless down the runway, but presentations allow models to play a character and give the clothes a story.
Nothing defined fun, flirty, and girly more than Zac Posen’s Z-Spoke collection. Zac provided scads of bright, colorful, and animated options, especially with separates, which will allow girls to put their own twist on the Z-Spoke style.
