Adrienne Arsht co-hosted a reception at her home for the National Council of La Raza. The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) is the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States and works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans. Founded in 1968, NCLR is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan, tax-exempt organization headquartered in Washington, DC.
In addition to Arsht, the evening was co-hosted by her friend and NCLR Vice Chair Jorge Plasencia to welcome the board of directors of NCLR to Washington, DC. Adrienne Arsht spoke about her love for the Hispanic community and how when she first moved to Miami it was the Latinos that immediately embraced her. Arsht supports numerous Hispanic causes across America. Janet Murguia addressed the guests as did Jorge Plasencia, who is also the CEO of República.
About 100 guests attended including Janet Murguía, President and CEO, NCLR; Jim Padilla, Former President of Ford Motor Company; Cesar Alvarez, Executive Chairman of Greenberg Traurig; Lourdes Meluzá, Univision Network Correspondent and Debbie Durham, Univision DC Bureau Chief.
