Think Local First DC and local business owners teamed up to urge customers to avoid large chains for their holiday shopping.

When you think holiday shopping, what comes to mind? Macy’s, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdales- with a little William Sonoma on the side. The holiday shopping season sends droves of customers to large chains, leaving local businesses struggling to keep up. So how are independent businesses fighting back? By taking the mic! Local business owners teamed up to create 12 Days of Local, a music video reminding consumers to be creative with their chosen shopping venues this holiday season.
The video, which is part of a promotion for Think Local First DC, includes background music by Marshall Keys and appearances from the owners of Busboys and Poets, Ben’s Chili Bowl, Hill’s Kitchen, Hello Cupcake, Uncle Brutha’s Hot Sauce, Lettie Gooch Boutique, Tryst, Taqueria Distrito Federal, Boundless Yoga, and Logan Hardware.
The video is entertaining in its own right- but it’s the message Think Local DC and local business owners want viewers to remember. So this season, stray from the path of big business to complete your holiday shopping- local stores will thank you.
