The Washington Humane Society honored Field Service Officers who helped animals in need at the 10th Annual Sugar & Champagne Affair held at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, DC. Holly Morris of Fox 5 News, WTTG, served as the Mistress of Ceremonies, which had a K-9 cake centerpiece made by Chef Jason Reeves of Market Salamander. Chef Todd and Ellen Gray of Equinox Restaurant hosted the event with a VIP Tasting Room for special patrons who enjoyed samplings from Equinox Restaurant, Bourbon Steak, Marcel’s, Restaurant Eve, Rogue 24, PS7 and The Source.
Guests brought their leashed companions to the pet-friendly fundraiser where they drank bubbly and noshed on confections from some of DC’s finest restaurants and pastry chefs, including Cuba Libre, Hello Cupcake, Kushi, Cork Market, Lebanese Taverna, The Cookie Guy, Restaurant 3, PamCakes, Bastille, Café Saint-Ex and ZENTAN. Even gourmet food trucks Red Hook Lobster, DC Slices, Capmac and DC Empanadas joined in the fun.
Proceeds raised benefited Animal Control, Humane Law Enforcement, and Humane Education departments of the Washington Humane Society.
