Electro remixes and nationally treasured stamp collections – A match made at the Smithsonian Postal Museum.
by Grace Romanowsky

The discotheque last year

Friday April 15th, Simon DeLacroix, otherwise known as The Toxic Avenger, will arrive air mail from Paris to transform the Smithsonian Postal Museum into an EKG altering international discotheque. Amidst one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive stamp collections (the National Philatelic Collection includes more than 6 million items, making it the largest collection in a postal museum in the world,) the renowned mix-master will deliver dance-inducing electro remixes to songs by the likes of Peaches, Ladytron and Kylie Minogue. He’ll also be playing a selection of his own self-produced tunes, inspired by such oddities as the soundtracks of 70s and 80s low-budget films. When you need to take a breather from the dance-a-thon, how do you fancy a game of “Post Master’s Challenge” or “All Aboard to Sort the Mail?”

Tickets will be going for $35 for general admission and $30 for Resident members. The event is 21+ and ticket prices include two drink tickets. To purchase click here. The event was completely sold-out last year so snatch up a ticket up while they last and remember, you can’t put a price on education. After all, where else can you learn about the Pony Express while taking a water break from a heated dance off?
