The CFDAs, Resort Wear, Naked Ankles… and How Much Should You Pay for a Hat?

The Oscars of Fashion – the CFDAs – were last week and Proenza Schouler took home the top award for Womenswear Designer of the Year.

And speaking of winners at the CFDA, Lady Gaga was honored with the Fashion Icon Award. But does she deserve it? Read a Forbe’s writer’s take on it.

CFDA is also an endless parade of some of the best fashion out there – it’s one of few awards shows where anything goes – especially “out there” couture. Still, some seek to become trend-setters by taking simple fashions, not usually seen out and about and making them pieces for evening wear – including swimsuits. On the other side of the pond, the British Fashion Council’s NEWGEN Sponsorships were awarded. These awards provide financial assistance for designers to present their collections.
