The CFDAs, Resort Wear, Naked Ankles… and How Much Should You Pay for a Hat?

The Oscars of Fashion – the CFDAs – were last week and Proenza Schouler took home the top award for Womenswear Designer of the Year.

CFDA is also an endless parade of some of the best fashion out there – it’s one of few awards shows where anything goes – especially “out there” couture. Still, some seek to become trend-setters by taking simple fashions, not usually seen out and about and making them pieces for evening wear – including swimsuits. Is this a new trend we will see emerging for summer?

On the other side of the pond, the British Fashion Council’s NEWGEN Sponsorships were awarded. These awards provide financial assistance for designers to present their collections. A trend emerging from these resort wear collections are vibrant colors, such as lemon yellow. See which designers are making this a staple color for 2012.
