Several former champions and ten Top 30 players will compete in one of this year’s ATP World Tour 500 events.
For the 18th consecutive year, Legg Mason, a global asset management company, will be sponsoring the Legg Mason Tennis Classic at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center this summer. Leading the field this year are Americans Mardy Fish, no. 9 in the world, and Andy Roddick, three-time Legg Mason Tennis Classic Champion and no. 10 in the world; Austrian Jürgen Melzer, no. 11 in the world; and Serbian Viktor Troicki, the 2008 runner up and no. 12 in the world.
A part of the US Olympus Open Series, the Legg Mason Tennis Classic will feature several other international and American tennis stars, many of whom have competed in the classic before and have already won single titles in 2011. Other players include: Canada’s Milos Raonic, Argentina’s David Nalbandian, a last year Wild Card pick who walked away with the trophy, 2006 Legg Mason semi-finalist Russia’s Dmitry Tursunov, and Chile’s Fernando Gonzalez, who underwent surgery just last year.
The tournament holds 48 spots in the main singles draw, and only 38 have been filled so far. Four Wild Cards and six Qualifiers will be announced at a later date.
The Legg Mason Tennis Classic will be held this year from July 30th to August 7. Tickets can be purchased here.
