Tony Woods, along with Big Al Goodwin and Charles Fleischer will christen the Riot Act Comedy Theater stage with witty performances and laughter at the venue's private grand opening, August 10th.

D.C.’s Penn Quarter has its hands in some funny business with the grand opening of Riot Act Comedy Theater, a state-of-the-art comedic venue showcasing major national headliners and local talent. The two-story, 13,000 square foot building, and 330 seat showroom, will host a variety of talent along with open mic nights, special theme nights, a School of Comedy, and cabaret-style dining. Digital recording and high-tech broadcast resources are also an option for young comedic talent looking to make it big. Washington native, restauranteur, and bar owner, Geoff Dawson with partners Marjorie Heiss and John Xereas will unveil the Riot Act Comedy Theater to the public August 11-13. Ushering in the theatre’s opening week is D.C. comedian Charles Fleischer as the headline act. You might recognize his distinctive comedic voice, as it has appeared in movies such as “The Polar Express,” Adam Sandler’s “Funny People,” and “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” playing the famous hare himself. In the coming months, Riot Act Comedy Theater will be bringing to the public the best of comedy with acts including, Paul Mooney, Tony Woods, Judy Gold, Allah Made Me Funny, and comic legend Mr. Dick Gregory.  Check out the local comedic talent and see what everyone’s laughing about. Riot Act Comedy Theater is located on 801 E Street, behind the Spy Museum and a block away from the Verizon Center. The theatre is open nightly seven days a week and will feature matinee performances on weekends.
