My favorite word, by far, is “shoe”. So when Saks Fifth Avenue announced its winner of the Sexiest Shoe for 2011, I was beyond excited. See which shoe designer – and the shoe – was awarded this honor.
What if heels aren’t your ‘thing’? Or, what do you get a sneaker enthusiast that has every sneaker, in every color from every country? That’s right… laces. My suggestion? Get them in both metals. Gold does not go with everything.
Need the perfectly unique sneaker to go with these laces? Check out Jeremy Scott’s collaboration with Adidas. Who says “animal prints” and 14K gold can’t go together?
Speaking of non-traditional… Christian Louboutin is at it again. No, it’s not the art of design, so much as the art of proving to the judge he’s wrong on his decision. But, it looks as though this time he has backing from a well-known jewelry company.
… and speaking of legal issues…. The D.C. Farmers Market has some of its own. In one of the biggest counterfeit busts in D.C., see just how many counterfeit goods were seized, to equate to a whopping $3 million!
First there was Kate Spade and her ex Jack Spade. Now there is Tory Burch and her ex Chris Burch. Except… could there be a little rivalry? See what his plans are for his new store.
It seems like having your own documentary is the new “in” thing to have if you are designer. But, instead of waiting for the big screen, this one is coming to your home television. See which designer is up next to tell the tale of their life.
One mammal that gets plenty of documentaries but never its own line is the penguin. According to sources, there is a new trend forming in New Zealand and it’s called “penguin chic”. See why.
… and although penguins can’t fly… or change clothes, it appears Anna Wintour can. See how many times and WHERE she changed. Will “flight chic” become a new trend?
Some of us have at one point or another coveted our mother’s closet. But how about an 11 year-old’s? Check out Kiernan Shipka’s (Sally Draper on Mad Men) closet and who some of her favorite designers are. (Hint: She’s wise and fashionable beyond her years.)
Not impressive? Here’s another closet to covet… but would you make your favorite shoe designer permanent?
Something else to covet: Muccia Prada’s limited edition jewelry line.
In other jewelry news… Cartier will never collaborate… ever.
Many were sad when Christian Lacroix closed its doors in 2009. His vintage pieces are still coveted items around the world. As such, it’s only natural to make a come back that expresses rich history with a new heritage. See which ballet is helping him make a (limited) comeback.
… speaking of dramatic designs. Hear Sarah Burton and Cathy Horyn speak about the “Alexander McQueen woman”. Do you fit this persona?
It’s bridal season. We’ve seen black as the new white and even gowns with a punch of color. Still, there are some designers that have put a modern twist to a traditional gown. See what Temperley, Carolina Herrera, Badgley Mischka and more have created for next season. Also check out what Jenny Packham, Anne Bowen and Angel Sanchez have in store.
Need a wine to go with that wedding gown? Check out which winery Karl Lagerfeld is now designing labels for.

… and while you are making that spring checklist, don’t forget to include accessories! See the top 20 hottest must-haves.

Beijing Fashion Week kicked off with a bang this week. See what shape NE TIGER’s show took. (Hint: Think the Barbie collection at FAO Schwarz.)
