After their recent silent Auction and benefit party, Transformer Gallery – a non-profit committed to promoting emerging visual artists through engaging exhibitions and programs – quickly, well, transformed, by getting ready for their next exhibitions. Immediately after hosting the eighth annual silent auction, the art-centric crew, in honor of World Aids Day and Day With(out) Art 2011,  screened the work Untitled a new-age video work created by Jim HodgesCarlos Marques de Cruz, and Encke King. The work which featured a montage of archival and pop footage recalling the social activism sparked by the early years of the AIDS crisis in the U.S. Transformer will also be opening their 9th annual DC Solo Exhibition on Dec 10th. Lily deSaussure will be showing a site-specific installation of hands-embroidered images inspired by familial snapshots. The opening reception is Saturday, December 10 6-8 p.m. and the exhibition will run until January 28th every Wednesday through Saturday from 1-7p.m.
