Interior decorators and designers have been bursting at the seams with excitement for the Capital Design Lecture Series. The series features monthly lectures with notable designers and are followed by luncheons and other exciting events. Hosted by the Washington Design Center, the annual design-trade event will continue on the third Tuesday of each month from February to June 2012 for fashionable fans to join some of the most famous names in design.

Bravo’s Million Dollar Decorator, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, had no problem holding the attention of his audience as he kicked off the series by discussing designer fabric collections with Susan North, Schumacher’s Senior Vice President of Design & Creative Director. The talk, “The Road to Landing a Licensed Fabric Collection,” covered the common highs and lows that most early designers face.

Highlights of the series include design celebrities Charlotte Moss, Suzanne Kasler and Luca Missoni, whose family’s fashion and home empire has collections at Stark Carpet. Both designers and consumers are invited to the next event on March 20 — an outdoor design panel discussion truly meant for those who think outside the box.
