The US National Committee for UN Women is taking steps to ensure a better future for our mothers and daughters.

Our country has come a long way since women’s suffrage in the early twentieth century; shout out to famous fearless women including Susan B Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton. However, despite the many accomplishments we’ve made in legislation and other aspects, women continue to suffer. The US National Committee for UN Women’s mission is to work towards a world where women live free from inequality, violence, and poverty. Put one foot in-front of the other and walk towards a better future for our mothers and our daughters, in the annual 5K walk to prevent violence against females everywhere.
The Capital’s annual 5K route will start at Gateway Park in Arlington, VA, and end at Logan Circle in Washington DC. The event is being held on April 28, 2012, rain or shine, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Registration is available online or on-site starting at 8:30 AM. The registration free is: $20 for non-members, $15 for USNC members, and $10 for students. Each walker is encouraged to raise $100, but all donations are appreciated.
