Mary Anne Huntsman mixes classic and glam in her casual cocktail party look.
By Laura Wainman
Here at Washington Life we see more than our fair share of party guests and their sartorial choices. Each week, we will feature our favorite “Best Dressed Guest” from recent events we have photographed and share a few words of advice from the well-groomed Washingtonian.
As a pianist, Mary Anne Huntsman spends her days giving new life to classical music. And we could say the same for her outfit from the Club Caravan cocktail party, as she selected a classically beautiful turquoise wrap dress, paired with simple black boots. But the devil was in the details with her bold animal-print scarf, chunky bangle and delicate chandelier earrings.
“I was coming from work and chose something I’d be comfortable in all day,” says Huntsman.
For Huntsman, an outfit is all about the shoes and we couldn’t agree more. Her black Stuart Weitzman boots are a classic style, but the shine gives them an added glam factor. Even though Huntsman said she didn’t “feel very fashionable that night,” her boots garnered her compliments all night long.
We love that she kept her look simple, with classic silhouettes, but added unexpected touches such as the scarf, chandelier earrings from Urban Chic and Tory Burch cuff. We are loving all shades of green this season, so her turquoise dress caught our eye.
“I’m a very low-key person so I think it is worse to be over dressed.”
