Despite calls for horrendous weather, hundreds of trendy Washingtonians packed into the W Hotel’s P.O.V. Lounge to get their copies of “Revenge Wears Prada,” the sequel to the sensational bestseller “The Devil Wears Prada,” signed by author Lauren Weisberger herself. And while the fashionistas no doubt enjoyed the NARS lipstick bar, the IPSA for Nectar hair primping station and the accessories-turned-decor from Bloomingdale’s, the obvious hit of the night were the tiers of miniature Georgetown cupcakes, as the crowd devoured more than 500 of the tasty treats adorned with miniature copies of Weisberger’s cover.
Guests sipped sassily-named cocktails mixed from St. Germain and Grey Goose Cherry Noir, as they awaited Weisberger’s appearance, and took turns posing for photos in the DressYourGuests photo booth. The lady of the hour began the night by briefly thanking the adoring crowd for supporting her new novel, which details main character Andy Sachs’ glamorous life after her rather iconic stint at Runway magazine. The author, clad in adorable neon orange heels which she informed us were uncomfortable, patiently signed hundreds of copies of her book with a gracious smile for her dedicated Washington fans. Though we were hoping for a reading from the novel, the evening certainly whet our appetite to get reading the highly-anticipated sequel.
