Around the world, Jason Hinton leads American efforts for productive international development.
By Adoria Doucette
Washington, D.C.-based international development specialist and Power Source veteran Jason Hinton has been very busy since his first profile in Power Source less than a year ago. Hinton’s Haitian subsidiary is actively engaged in economic growth activities and investment promotion in priority industries for Haiti’s development, such as tourism and cultural heritage, the arts and handicrafts sector, agriculture, and new technologies.
By identifying access points into niche markets abroad, the company is empowering Haiti’s cultural producers to seek opportunities for international exposure such as fairs, expositions, film and music festivals and commercial buyers.
Hinton’s company also co-sponsored the launch of a cyber center and new library to benefit the Village de Noailles artisans’ community in Croix-des-Bouquets. Additionally, he provided funding for the Forum Transculturel, which brought established African artists to work with and mentor Haitian artists at the École National des Arts.
With Eurasian cohesion a major component of international concern, Hinton has been a key ambassador from the west to the Astana Economic Forum that is held in the administrative capital of Kazakhstan every year. Hinton met with government and business leaders to identify economic opportunities in Kazakhstan and was featured on live TV to discuss why Americans are interested in Kazakhstan as an investment destination with its planned growth around second tier economic activity, like the development of oil refineries and food processing.
Hinton and his team have completed a monitoring and evaluation project as a prime contractor for USAID in Guatemala. These tasks seek to determine whether efforts in the indigenous highlands are yielding results with regards to education and health initiatives sponsored by USAID.
Hinton’s analysis forms the basis from which the agency’s evolved understanding will be used to improve the lives of this isolated, indigenous population.
Mr. Hinton and his company will be inducted into the Big Data Combine Hall of Fame this year in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Hinton was a featured speaker at the Big Data Combine in Miami, Florida in 2013, providing his expertise on how social media data is a reliable and legitimate indicator for not only recognizing social and geopolitical threats, but also protecting and enhancing investment portfolios.
Power Source commends the goal oriented actions of Mr. Hinton and his staff, as their efforts continue to define the future of American internationalism.
Power Source is an insider’s view of power networks and activities that contribute to the continued dominance of our nation’s ideals, institutions and individuals.
