DC Swim Show kicks off the weekend at Café Milano in Georgetown.
By Sara Cooper
Café Milano was abuzz last night as photographers snapped photos of models and guests sipped champagne at the press night for DC Swim Show. Master of Ceremonies Katie Rost and Guest of Honor Vincent De Paul both spoke to guests as the night began, and DC Councilman Vincent Orange grabbed a spot in the audience.
The show itself was absolutely the highlight of the evening, featuring stunning black and white swimsuits and fashions from Dar be Dar by Tala Raassi. The suits ranged from intense one-pieces, to flirty bikinis, to unique dresses, and the models pulled off each look perfectly! Tala Raassi shared a bit about the making of her line with the guests, saying that “it was inspired by the fun edgy woman who travels the world and wants to go from the beach to a party, so she can just wear her swimsuit to the pool and then put some jeans over it and rock it out.”
After the show concluded, Councilman Orange mingled with guests and chatted about the show. He believes that DC is truly up-and-coming in the fashion world, and supports bringing more fashion to DC. When asked what he thought of the show, he voiced the crowd’s opinion, saying “Everybody is raving about how great it was!”
