Eco-luxe beauty and skincare line Skincando pops up at Emerald Door spa in Silver Spring.

Skincando founder and eco-facialist Sara Damelio, who started her skincare business 15 years ago by whipping up organic products in a Kitchenaid mixer, celebrated the opening of her eco-luxe pop-up studio at the Emerald Door day spa in Silver Spring with a Saturday evening showcase.
For the next six months, the eco-friendly spa will offer handcrafted facials using Skincando’s 100% certified organic products; a variety of high-quality small batch indie beauty products from Bee George Honey, Oh So Good Organics, Meow Meow Tweet and Shamuti; and hand-mixed treatments made with local organic essential oils.
The organic skin treatments range from $65 for the Mini to $145 for the Luxe facial. The Men’s Soap and Hot Water Shave Facial is $55. The pop-up also offers natural treatments including eyebrow and eyelash tinting; aromatherapy waxing; and mani-pedis with Mischo Beauty nail polishes.
“I know from personal experience what a difference non-toxic, organic products and treatments can have on your skin and well-being,” says Damelio, who began researching organic products in an attempt to solve her own skin problems, and found the solution with her own line.
Damelio’s popular Combat-Ready Balm has been widely used by soldiers in war zones to combat severe dryness, eczema, minor abrasions and other skin issues. All Skincando products are handcrafted in micro-batches in Damelio’s D.C.- based workshop and are free from harmful materials such as parabens, petrochemicals, fragrances or dyes.
