Vinifera Wine Bar & Bistro debuts its one bite for one buck menu.

The Reston, Va. eatery is hoping to win over diners one bite at a time with its Spanish-styled pinxtos.

Let’s be honest, the McDonald’s Dollar Menu is nothing more than cheap fast food with a catchy advertising campaign. Now Vinifera Wine Bar & Bistro in The Westin Reston Heights is offering its own dollar menu that puts the Golden Arches to shame. For just a buck, diners can choose from a colorful array of eight different Spanish-styled pinxtos – one-bite mini Mediterranean appetizers served on slender skewers – that incorporate fresh herbs and vegetables grown on-site in executive chef Bo Palker’s garden. Alpine-influenced Tarentaise cheese is matched with sweet caramelized onion and earthy olive. Briny boquerones (sardines) are speared with a sliver of fresh tomato, a sprig of parsley and garlic. And crispy-meets-creamy when flash fried baby artichoke is partnered with smoky blue cheese.

For diners in the mood for more than a mouthful, there are a number of tapas-styled small plates, including lamb kafta on pita with tzatziki sauce and Portuguese and venison sausages complemented with spicy mustard and green tomato marsala compote. With than 300 wines available by the half pour, full glass or in flights of three, it’s easy to keep your whistle wet no matter how many bites you enjoy. Trust us though, it’ll only take a single nibble to have you saying, “I’m loving it!”
