HOWARD COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL ANNOUNCES SECOND ANNUAL
OPEN MIC NIGHT
Ellicott City, MD – On Thursday, June 17th, 2010, the Howard County Arts Council will host their second annual Open Mic Night in the black box theatre of the Howard County Center for the Arts (8510 High Ridge Road, Ellicott City, MD 21043) beginning at 6:30 pm. Open Mic Night will be in conjunction with the free exhibit reception for their Resident Visual Artists 2010 and Contrast and Symmetry exhibits.
Hosting the evening will be Mo Dutterer, actor/director and founding artistic director of Silhouette Stages, Inc.
Participants will include Broadway alum NicKayla, who performed in the role of young Nala in Disney’s The Lion King. Artists can perform in any performance discipline suitable for an audience of all ages. All performances will last no longer than three minutes and a People’s Choice Award will be given to the performer with the most audience votes.
Stage time can be reserved by contacting the Arts Council at 410-313-ARTS (2787) or by emailing Deputy Director, Wendy Meetze at deputydirector@hocoarts.
org with the performer’s name, resume and headshot if available, a brief description of the act and the approximate length of act. Performers can also sign-up at the door, time permitting.
The exhibit reception, from 6-8 p.m. will feature Resident Visual Artists 2010 exhibit in Gallery I, featuring works from HCAC’s 14 resident artists and Contrast and Symmetry, in Gallery II, with work by Joseph Van Kerkhove and Kristin Kowalski. Light refreshments will be served.
The exhibits will open May 7, 2010 and run through June 20, 2010. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Sunday 12 – 4 p.m. For more information about Howard County Arts Council programs and exhibits call 410-313-ARTS (2787) or visit http://www.hocoarts.org.
