It was a great weekend for Washington, DC polo in Miami! DC-based polo patrons Mark Goode and Chet Lott, sponsored by jewelry giant Hublot, defeated teams Setai, Ferretti, and AMG to take home the top prize at the AMG Miami Beach Polo World Cup VI.

Throngs of polo enthusiasts, many still in town from the recent Palm Beach Polo Classic, migrated to South Beach for the annual oceanfront tournament, held on the white sandy beach behind the ultra chic Setai Hotel, that signals the end of the Spring polo season in Florida. A posse of Washingtonians, one of the World’s most successful movie producers, and a trio that made a special trip over from Europe, were all on hand to support Hublot and to take in the action packed weekend of polo, live music, dinners, cocktail receptions, and fashion shows that surrounded the 3-day tourney.
The Hublot team, rounded out by Matias Magrini and Guillermo Usandizaga, were fan favorites from the beginning of the tournament. After annihilating team Setai 16-6 on opening day and team Ferretti 7-5 on day 2, Hublot was placed in position to go head to head with AMG, helmed by DC-based patron Michael Smith Liss, scion of the Smith real-estate empire. Aided by Pelon Escapite, and Agentinian superstar Nacho Figueras, AMG put up a good fight throughout the four chukker finale, ultimately being defeated by two goals with a final score of 11-9.
