The sexiest movie of 1956, this film created a vogue for erotic pajamas and made Carroll Baker one of the sex symbols of the decade. Often considered the best screen transposition of Tennessee Williams’s plays (Kazan wrote the screenplay), it is also a continuing demonstration of Kazan’s ability to create movie myths.
