Author Bill Nack was feted by Washington Life in the 25th floor Penthouse Suite of Rosslyn’s Turnberry Tower with a party celebrating the re-release of his acclaimed book, “Secretariat,” which Walt Disney Pictures made into a Fall blockbuster starring Diane Lane and John Malkovitch.
About 250 VIP guests of the magazine were treated to a sumptuous buffet, gift bags provided by Walt Disney, tours of the ultra-luxe new condo and its spectacular vistas, and a book-signing which quickly sold out.
After being introduced by former Washington Post Sports Editor George Solomon, Nack regaled attendees with memories of being 10 years on the “Secretariat beat” at Sports Illustrated, describing the horse as “1,100 pounds of caged heat” and “the greatest racehorse that ever lived.”
Hosted by Turnberry Tower’s Dan Riordan, the power guest list included ESPN’s Leonard Shapiro and author-wife Vicky Moon, CBS News White House Correspondent Chip Reid and his wife Nina Black, ABC7 anchor Scott Thuman, interior decorator Pamela Hughes, superlobbyist Jack Quinn and his wife Susanna, environmentalist Coventry Berg, actor Aleco Bravo, Adam Falkoff, K Street Kate’s Kate Michael, Fingerprint DC’s Jayne Sandman, Urban Daddy’s Jeff DuFour and John and Kristen Cecchi.
