Mix 107.3‘s longtime nighttime jock and Washington Life.com “Music Matters” columnist Tommy McFly has been hired for afternoon duties at 94.7 Fresh FM.
On Wednesday, McFly celebrated his move to the CBS Radio station with food and drink at The Wine Bar at J&G Steakhouse at W Washington D.C.
The crowd was heavy with the VIP Friends of Tommy, DC’s young social turks who are far too numerous to mention by name. As McFly, 24, worked the crowd, they clearly delighted in McFly’s newest achievement.
DC’s radio wunderkind couldn’t resist in commenting to all about his first week in his “day” job, which takes him off nights now for the first time in two years since moving to D.C. from his native Scranton, PA., where he once spun country hits at a station there.
First week highlight: The $15,000 diamond ring courtesy of Dominion Jewelers in Falls Church that he gave away in his first week on the air at 94.7 to the randomly chosen listener that he reached during her afternoon carpooling ritual.
“She was screaming like crazy, she couldn’t believe it,” he recalled. “I live for moments like that.”
