Heat got you down? No worries, Pitango Gelato opens a new location on Capitol Hill.

With the passing of July 4th weekend, the dog days of summer are officially here. To help take the edge off, Pitango Gelato has graciously opened a new location in Capitol Hill (660 Pennsylvania Ave. SE).
The Italian-inspired super scoopers offer 20 different kinds of homemade gelato and sorbet every day. If you’re in the mood for some fruity flavors, try the zingy white grapefruit or the mellower cantaloupe. For a more indulgent option, order the rich hazelnut or the rich chocolate shot through with dark chocolate chips. For a real pick-me-up, get an affogato – a single shot of freshly brewed espresso poured over a scoop of gelato (we recommend the creamy coconut or the double-trouble chocolate hazelnut). Whether you slurp or spoon it up, it’s the perfect way to power through even the most oppressively hot afternoon.
